inetutils-ping software package provides ICMP echo tool, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install inetutils-ping
inetutils-ping is installed in your system.
Make ensure the inetutils-ping package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep inetutils-ping *
You will get with inetutils-ping package name, version, architecture and description in a table
